You’d have to be living under a digital rock to not have seen the tsunami of bold claims about Generative AI and how it can transform businesses – but for many the question remains: is it the real deal or just another overhyped technology?
When exploring how a business can utilise generative AI, you have to remind yourself that generative AI's full potential is still yet to be realised. Whilst its current practical applications are showing that it can already drive positive returns for businesses, they also provide us with a glimpse into just how much more transformational it will be in the not too distant future.
That’s probably why the generative AI market is projected to expand from USD$67 billion in 2024 to nearly USD$967 billion by 2032. But rather than speculating on its prospective benefits, it’s probably more relevant to discuss its real-world applications that are already delivering value to those businesses who have made smart investments into it.
Here at Revium, we’ve been quietly integrating generative AI into both our own business and our client projects, producing tangible outcomes while also laying the groundwork for future innovations. Here are some examples of how we’ve applied generative AI in practical, commercial settings.
We’ve built a pretty nifty AI chat solution that can be used to handle all client enquires through your website (from customer support to sales) or as an internal HR assistant (providing staff with immediate responses to any process/policy question) and more.
It can ingest all the knowledge from your website, or your intranet or even your file server and what’s more it will continue to add knowledge as those resources are updated.
We’ve already deployed the solution for a number of clients in various settings including a website chatbot for a member organisation, a sales assistant bot on a B2C client website, an educator and trainer on a client LMS, a HR advisor for new staff and more. You can read more about how it works here or see a practical client example here.
These AI-driven chat solutions not only improve customer and staff engagement but also gather valuable data to enhance future interactions.
Our AI-powered search solutions can be applied to a website or other knowledge sources and can transform how businesses access and leverage information. These systems are designed not just for immediate utility but also for future scalability as data volumes and complexity increase.
We already have two clients running this service to manage search on their websites – providing their visitors with a service that is much better at getting them the answers they are looking for faster and more accurately. You can read more about how we built the technology here.
We have also built up our capability in multi-agent AI development. This is where you have a whole team of AI agents that work together to solve problems for you and act like a mini business department. We are partners with one of the leading technologies in this space, Crew AI and one of the first organisations in Australia to be certified in the tech.
One of the applications we have delivered using this tech is an AI content ideation and generation tool that accelerates the production of high-quality content using a team of AI agents including a copywriter, editor, researcher, SEO expert and more.
It can generate long form or short form content that is on brand, optimised for SEO and written in the style and format you specify - all in a matter of minutes.
We have invested time, effort and training into mastering the art of AI image and video generation. This has enabled us to create images and videos that have been delivered for clients across applications from marketing and advertising through to training videos and more.
The technology available through tools like MidJourney, Flux, Adobe Firefly, Runway and HeyGen allow for the quick and easy production of highly directable content that is unencumbered by the usual limits that traditional content generation puts on the client’s imagination.
Add to that the ability to efficiently translate video and audio into multiple different languages and you have an immensely powerful capability to reach even broader audiences in a way that speaks to them directly at an incredibly economical cost.
Whilst there are some off the shelf (OTS) AI toolsets for this like CoPilot for Microsoft Teams, we have actually found we get better results far more economically by using a combination of automated meeting transcriptions with our own models – allowing us to tailor the way notes are taken and distributed specific to the client and the context of the meeting.
We can also offer client’s the ability to specify “command phrases” that, when spoken during a meeting, will dictate actions that the AI notetaker will adhere to when processing the meeting notes.
There are of course a bunch of other AI applications we could talk about, like data analysis and modelling, content & product recommendation engines, content summary tools and more. There are also some applications that we can’t talk about because they are being used to deliver our clients a competitive edge…
The overarching point being that whilst there is some noise out in the media about generative AI not delivering results, the reality is that it can definitely produce tangible results for business – if it is done right.
One of the challenges to success for businesses when leveraging AI is the democratisation of access to it. Never in history has a complex technology been made so accessible to the general public so early on – this has proven to be a blessing and a curse. It has meant that the technology has gained widespread attention and adoption... but at the same time, it has meant people without a technical background, capability or understanding are trying to leverage it and basing their assessment of its utility off their own ability to utilise it.
It’s like giving someone who has never driven before the keys to a Formula 1 car and them decrying that it is not as good as what everyone says it is because it takes them ten times as long to do a lap as what the manufacturer claims.
As with any technology, the key is having the expertise to be able to leverage it effectively which is perhaps why there is still some confusion out there about whether generative AI is really a big deal or not.
So hopefully by now we’ve convinced you that it is a big deal and that there are tangible immediate benefits on offer for businesses from generative AI. At Revium we’re already seeing the positive impacts for ourselves and our clients, and even more excitingly we can see an immensely positive future for the technology which we can’t wait to continue exploring.
If you want to have a chat about how you could potentially leverage AI in your business feel free to give us a bell. We do love a good chat about AI, and you won’t get any pushy salesmanship from Chris or Caitlin.
