TreeProject partnered with Revium to develop a versatile and intuitive Member Portal to streamline operations, reduce administrative overheads and empower their members to manage activities directly.
TreeProject enables urban and rural communities to collaborate in planting trees, helping restore degraded lands through an extensive network of volunteers who grow indigenous seedlings. They assist rural landholders and Landcare groups by providing at-cost plants to combat erosion, enhance soil and water quality, and revitalise ecosystems. Their mission encompasses training, support, and community engagement, fostering practical and lasting environmental projects.
TreeProject's wide-ranging activities involved multiple member groups, including tree growers, coordinators, landowners, and staff. However, their existing SQL database interface, built on an outdated Microsoft Access application, was ineffective. Only staff members could access the system, necessitating manual record entry, leading to inefficiencies, inaccuracies, and increased operational costs. The organisation urgently required a contemporary, user-friendly web-based application on the latest Microsoft technology to streamline operations and reduce administrative overheads.
Acknowledging TreeProject's budget constraints as a non-profit, Revium collaborated closely with their internal business analysts, project managers, and testers to minimise costs.
Revium focussed on developing a robust database access layer using the Dapper framework, ensuring compatibility with the existing complex SQL database schema.
The new web UI was implemented on the Azure platform, leveraging Azure B2C for secure identity management, and ensured it was accessible on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Integrations with SendGrid for email and Twilio for SMS streamlined communication processes further.
Revium delivered a versatile and intuitive Member Portal that empowered TreeProject's diverse member groups to manage their activities directly.
Users could securely log in, access, and update records, enhancing data accuracy and reducing administrative burdens.
The portal's launch, timed perfectly before the new tree-growing season, garnered positive feedback from growers, coordinators, and board members.
The new feature allowing photo uploads significantly improved seedling monitoring and assessment.
Additionally, the inclusion of email and SMS alert mechanisms boosted volunteer engagement and participation.
