Great Wall Motor (GWM), China’s foremost SUV and Ute producer with a significant emphasis on creating a range of New Energy Vehicles, faced substantial challenges with their content management system (CMS). The complexities of managing a vast array of vehicle options, dealer information, and model specifics, compounded by an unyielding CMS platform, impeded their ability to provide an engaging and seamless digital experience for their customers. Revium was engaged to transform GWM’s online presence through the implementation of the Storyblok Headless CMS Platform, ensuring a facile, maintainable, and enjoyable content management and car configurator experience.
GWM was struggling with Acoustic CMS, a platform that made content management laborious for their editors. The system's rigidity led to inefficiencies, with simple edits necessitating multiple changes across various pages. The vehicle models' maintenance was exceedingly manual, incorporating a myriad of model lines, sub-models, colours, trims, and other specifics. Together with this, the inflexible functionality of the existing CMS forced GWM to build and manage models within a separate PHP portal site, relying on manual updates and precarious asset management practices in order maintain the content.
Revium meticulously analysed GWM's existing site, conducting discovery workshops to grasp the intricacies of their content management needs.
Opting for the Storyblok Headless CMS Platform, Revium aimed for a quick setup and an intuitive interface to alleviate the struggles faced by GWM's content editors.
The solution involved seamlessly integrating the car models directly into Storyblok, negating the need for a separate PHP portal database.
Revium’s development team outlined critical components and revamped the car configurator experience, focusing on simplicity, user engagement, and a single source of truth for car model information.
The transition to Storyblok facilitated a remarkable transformation in how GWM managed their digital content.
The headless CMS platform offered unparalleled flexibility, allowing GWM content editors to efficiently update the website.
The car configurator was updated, delivering a user-friendly experience, notable for its simplicity and efficiency in managing car model data.
Feedback from GWM during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) highlighted the ease of content additions and navigation within Storyblok, marking a significant improvement over the former CMS.
Revium’s agile approach and collaborative efforts with GWM ensured the project's success, resulting in a new CMS that enabled models to be effortlessly managed, while providing an enhanced experience for end-users. With user sessions increasing by 45% and bounce rates dropping by 25% MoM showing, more user engagement post go live.
